    It’s unfortunate that the only way to manage a child’s Apple subscriptions is by being logged into their account. We had an iPad die, won’t buy a new one for a while, but subscriptions still going. Must log out of App Store on my own devices and log in as them to manage 🤔

    e.g. you can’t run it on Heroku very easily, which is a style of hosting I imagine a lot of “needs simple interactivity” apps would deploy to.

    I like the idea of Phoenix LiveView in principle, the main selling point being that you don’t have to adopt the complexity of frontend JS to do some simpler forms of interactivity. But you are adopting the complexity of persistent websockets, which has its own problems 😕

    Saw TROS again today, even better the second time ❤️ was easier to look past the not-as-good parts and just enjoy the experience. Daisy Ridley & Adam Driver are really great.

    This was a real pain when I ran a node cluster for a while, makes one extra thankful for langs like that are much more robust when it comes to this kind of stuff. Erlang VM is ❤️

    The interest on student loans is a way bigger problem than the amount owed. We’ve only been able to make meaningful progress on ours when we’ve been able to pay 2X - 4X our mortgage payment every month. It’d be one thing if it was for a mansion or a Ferrari, but it’s EDUCATION.

    When I left grad school in 2008, I owed $70k in federal student loans. (A poor choice I wouldn’t make again.) For the past 11 years, I’ve been making payments (except for a period of under employment), totaling about $60,000 in payments. Guess how much I still owe. $70,000.
