  3. Because of their slow flight are nice subjects to photograph. Especially when coming coming into land or taking off. One of these is at full stretch, I hope he did some warming up exercises first. Wouldn't want him to pull a muscle.

  4. While dropping a boat off in the Longbridge Sanctuary this Heron was finding lots of nesting material in the Willows by the bridge.

Not a bumper month for birds in the park but do I want freezing temperatures, frozen ground & iced over lakes just so that birds on the continent are forced to moving in search of food. No, I will reminisce on how it used to be. www.regentsparkbirds.blogspot .com

After so much grey with the clips now for some colour. must be nocturnal feeders as they spend much of the day time dozing.

Gathering nesting materials will continue for moths to come, possibly into September.

This bird probably has a female on the nest incubating. 4 years ago they nested in the basket but by adding material annually have outgrown the basket.

I had a feeling that this bird was the female. The male was a bit wary if she approached but was never over physical. Hopefully the next time I check the nest things have calmed down.

The male was soon back in the nest. It looked as if he was eating something not to his liking, could have been egg remains. They would remove that so corvids weren't drawn in.

Not a classic fight and both species can really scrap. Today was a case of getting the first jab in first.

1f Firecrests was seen again in the shrubberies near the Open Air Theatre Ticket Office, but only glimpsed again by me. The cold wind keeping it deep inside the shrubs. Nearby 3 Redwings were feeding until the path got busy. Fox at lunchtime.

were scattered around both islands where they could hideaway. were possibly feeding on algae. I hope the collection Garganey attract a passage bird this year they have before.

The male did a victory circuit & returned to the nest where he started tidying it up. A bird that I took to be the female was close by but was possibly to shocked to return. Maybe the goose had seen her off and she was wary.

The appeared to be nibbling the bottom of the nest. Eating the eggs??? The suddenly the male appeared, there was a brief tussle before the Heron flew off, it circled and came back this time the goose lost out.

On my way to check the these 2 birds were sunbathing in area 36. Viewing the Herons and the nests on Heron Island area 8 all looked fine until I saw an in the nest at 3.00 o'clock in the Horse Chestnut. Bugger, do I hate them?
