I don't expect people who aren't trans to every truly understand, but all I can tell you is that it's beyond depressing to live day in day out under the threat and memory of violence towards you while simultaneously being told that you are in fact the threat. It's completely sick
Like many trans people I faced violence all through my childhood and teenage years SIMPLY FOR BEING TRANS whilst being told that *I* was a pervert and a threat to others Are you happy to live in a society that treats people like this? And if not how are we going to change it?
And it's worth pointing out that as a white woman in the UK I have it better than many others. The average life expectancy for a trans woman of colour in the US is just 35 The insult and injustice of being painted as the threat while this is happening to us is an unbearable evil
Trans people I'm sorry we have to keep seeing this crap I know how upsetting it is particularly if you're having your own problems not to mention worrying about the state of the world. Please know you're not alone and that you're worth so much more than how this society treats us
I'm cis and I've never had that fear, ever. But that might be because the majority of misogyny and harassment I've faced has come from women so I view men and women through the same side eye.
If the novel was written by someone who was otherwise supportive of Trans rights, but used it a an artistic character choice, I wouldn't have an issue. From JK though, no way! I suspect that this novel will still do well based on presales prior to all this. The next will flop!
People only tend to share this myth because they believe the crap from influential people like JKR. I can't decide if she used this years spread of her transphobic views to flog her book or advertise how truly transphobic she is by adding fuel to the myth. Pretty shit either way
