A lot of people just don't understand that constantly asking questions like 'Are gay people normal?' or 'Are trans women "real" women?' or 'Why do you think you should be treated with respect?' is in and of itself very upsetting and draining. And some people do, but do it anyway.
This 'respectful' public 'debate' we're supposedly having is like blithely having a chat about whether or not you think gay people should be allowed to babysit small children. In front of a gay person and then getting upset with them if they happen to object to what you're saying
And that's not even mentioning all the people who just blatantly ridicule trans people's appearance, calling us "bed-wetters in bad wigs", "cut your dick off" etc or demanding I talk about Karen White as if I'm any more responsible for her than Graham Norton is for Jeffrey Dahmer

I have a few trans friends and I treat them just like everyone else, With friendly respect. They’re just like the rest of us trying to get by in this cruel world.
Always seems handled badly for like discussions on TV news media. You can’t really discuss issue if one party doesn’t even recognise issue as anything. Should be first question before it starts if they recognise . Without it you just get 10mins insulting transgender person guest
Maybe I’m missing something or being simple, but in my world, if you tell me you are a woman, you are my sister. If you tell me you are a man, you are my brother. If you tell me you are both or neither, you are my friend and I will love you.
