The strangest of Dylan's major songs, 'Changing Of The Guards' is an opium dream beamed to a Vegas showroom: Neil Diamond covering Coleridge. It might also be his most nakedly biographical lyric. Sixteen years in submission to the music industry and 'Slow Train Coming' up next.

I think Caribbean Wind rivals as biographical, only the live version which is not on any record. The history of that song is kind of a rosebud for understanding Dylan.

It’s been said before but Street Legal is one of his very best records with distracting production.

Caribbean Wind is such a good call as a biographical song. It feels like he is out of disguises. One of my favorites.

Do you have a list of these "major songs"? I just wanna know what you mean. No arguments. I'm 100% pro ALL Bob takes.

Pretty bold to call it a "major" song. But I might agree--and wonder if it'd be more widely recognized as such if it had been recorded with a much better band (and production. (Do you also consider "Señor" major?)

        Senor is huge. Totally major.

I never give up trying to figure this album out, not even when Dylan whips out the Tarot cards. Best line: “They shaved her head/She was torn between Jupiter and Apollo.”

That’s a top 10 Bob song for me even thought I have no clue what he’s talking about.

You're sorta making me wanna go through the entire Dylan catalog, which like a lot of things in life and music I should've done, I haven't done. And I remember when this album came out -ha.

Let's co-host a listening: "Street Legal: Live Listening Party (at a retirement facility to be named)". The panel discussion will be amazing!
