If you’re mainly concerned about feeding yourself and your family on a limited budget, this has important implications.

To put it simply, your vote is much more important than your weekly shop. Vote for someone who isn’t owned by corporate lobbyists, and who has demonstrated their commitment to green issues, then buy whatever fresh produce you can afford.

If you can afford to support organic production or local growers, that’s great. But if the price difference matters to you, then be cool. Just do what you need to do to eat well, and make sure to vote. Also, make sure to throw whatever you don’t eat on your heap.

Relatedly, if you’re loading up on notionally organic but highly processed foods like dark chocolate or whatever? Look. The marginal benefits have long since been subsumed by manufacturing and transport effects. Just have a fucking Choc-Ice and donate to someone non-evil.
