Likely, I think advertisers get a menu where they can select where they don't want ads. It's pretty obvious that many companies just pretend to support the LGBT+ communit, but actually don't, so it wouldn't surprise me if they all just block their ads from coming on those video's
I don't think that is one of the checkboxes. Creating an ad on YouTube, much like on Facebook, is all automated forms with options for the type of audience you are looking for. YouTube's form sucks, the categories are a few specifics and then really broad ones that catch too much
