Yup still many projects. Finex started 99% RoR, now is like 5%. Also if you take Ruby scripts (pure Ruby not RoR), and you run them with TruffleRuby then you get pure threading, etc. and access to ZGC. You can do apps comparable in perf to modern programming languages.

If you take pure Ruby scripts and run them with JRuby, you *also* get pure threading, access to numerous GCs, and broad cross-platform support.

Yup. Mostly I love to use JRuby on non RoR related stuff. ie. backend services.
