I am really highly skeptical that decentralized social media will take off anytime soon. Mainly because: 1. some censorship is always necessary and how do you walk the line? 2. not even L2s on Ethereum are scalable enough to be able to store all the information on social media

Either there is censorship or there isn't. Anything in the middle is censorship. Hence decentralisation is just "where" data is stored and that's not what people complain in current social. If you require people having tokens to moderate, it becomes again a game for the riches.
