I just checked and the size ratio ratio L-BTC vs LN is respected: last 30 days is still around 100x.

we'll never know exactly as the market, and users do what the will with tech. but I'd suspect it maybe an analog of maybe cash deposit (lightning) vs wire deposit (liquid) in a bank. lightning is typically for cash/retail/micropayments and liquid for retail/trading. some overlap
