Feels to me that #bitcoin
is the only L1 chain that can be truly cross-planetary as it is now.
Earth/Mars comms full round-trip is between 6m and 44m.

4. Other chains would likely need to build a sidechain that allows balance changes only and reduce block speed to 1 block every 10 min to reduce data transmission. The sidechain will settle on mainchain via a bridge.

What if there are planets that are more than 10 minutes away? Using Mars might be the most practical example but space is a big place and 10 minutes isn't long either. I think we'll use quantum entanglement to communicate state instantly.

Ethereum rollups seem like a pretty smart solution to a lot of space scale problems too. Space will probably be won by the best L2. Do you think they'll slow down Bitcoin blocks when we move to a planet outside our solar system?
