1/3 @bitfinex P2P lending engine is separate from our mighty
god-wrath-ready trading engine.
While being under constant improvement, the lending engine has been suffering a bit under the pressure of the fast growing Finex user-base.
2/3 Yesterday at 6pm UTC we deployed a new version of the @bitfinex P2P lending engine that uses optimized in-memory data structures bringing a perf gain of 25x.
At the moment we applied it only to USD lending but we plan to roll it out on all the remaining currencies coming week
3/ You should see a big difference during high funding volatility periods, while experiencing extremely improved latency at any time.

Is the exchange of lending contracts different enough to need a separate codebase than the trading engine?
Good question! We're planning the merger. The lending engine has some differences in the matching process: incoming offers don't necessarily match the top of the book, since "period" is an additional factor. Merging code bases would allow lending to inherit all order types.
