How that could work for big trades? Unless Jumbo payments and overall LN channels capacity increases, Traders would end-up opening a channel directly with Bitfinex and need to lock enough liquidity to cover the BTC amount.

Why only c-lightning? Why is this article not using lightning labs LND? I have done ~ 350 payments on LND and didn't have errors. And it is only 2 years old, still in beta, so what do you expect though? Give it another 1-2 years and we can compare it, with watchtowers etc.
