At May 16, 2019, Tether owned 0.076 BTC at address 1NTMakcgVwQpMdGxRQnFKyb3G1FAJysSfz. Every time Tether (OMNI) is issued or redeemed, Tether must pay mining fees in BTC. Note: Tether has > 35m in shareholder equity, so could even buy a horse without having to communicate it.

That's not even cherry picking. He mentions amount of BTC _at particular address_. Doesn't say if there are any other addresses. They think they're smart - time will tell how smart they are.

Your lawyer suggested that you invested “a small amount” of Tether's reserves into Bitcoin. The balance at one time isn't really relevant in my opinion. What was the most BTC that Bitfinex had on its books at any time? Did your lawyer make a mistake?

Unfortunately, most of crypto twitter lacks a basic understanding of accounting. The impact of shareholder equity will be completely lost on them as they just want to scream scam over and over at anyone they can.
