Coding the @0xProject integration for @ethfinex new trustless gateways has been super fun. Seeing it working along with our matching engine is truly satisfactory.

@0xProject has resolved that prior to integration with ethfinex?
That's not how the trustless gateways work. Orders are still submitted to a central matching engine but ethfinex will not have custodial of funds. The user keeps the funds temporarily locked on the 0x smart contracts.

Just curious about who gets priority in the order book; is it the person who placed the order first or the person who pays more in gas fees?

Who places the order first. Orders are not placed on chain, only collateral is locked on chain and that happens only before a trading session. Order insertion performance will be the same as normal (centralized) orders.
