Apple Card and Amex Platinum both have flush mag strips — but platinum has a clear laminate backing that seals it in — Apple chose to notch out the titanium and onset the magstrip. That is extra.pic.twitter.com/BpaSJU1A5M
Card weights from my crappy kitchen scale (ignore coffee detritus) 1. Apple Card 14.7g (quoted is 14.8 so probably rounded up) 2. AMEX platinum 18.4g 3. Chase Sapphire Preferred 12.2gpic.twitter.com/bCZMpmUhNN
One thing I forgot to mention though it was in my notes: Apple does a soft credit pull only on your application for Apple Card. It only does a hard pull once you hit the accept button so there is NO penalty for just seeing what the offer might be and reapplying later.
Thanks to @abrahamvegh for reminding me of this
Another note: Though it defaults to it and may seem like it is required, you do not have to use your Apple Cash balance to pay your Apple Card. You dip into the BANK ACCOUNT section and toggle Apple Cash off. A bit counter intuitive as it is not toggle-able from the main screen.pic.twitter.com/IKYS7iastR
As an advanced points amateur, I have a bunch of different cards for specific purposes and try to use them all responsibly, while still leveraging rewards.
I can tell you in the few days that I’ve had Apple Card I am 10x more aware of my exact interest rate, balance and exactly how much I need to pay when so i don’t pay extra then I’ve ever been with any other card.
Even if you obsessively check your apps, it’s not easy.
This is going to be great for a lot of people, especially new card owners, from a fiscal responsibility standpoint.
That’s a great T-shirt in the wallpaper picture.
