My new story is about a con artist who claimed to be: a fighter pilot shot down over Laos a college football star an airline executive a Homeland Security agent and a trustworthy witness. His testimony helped send four men to Florida's death row.

  2. My mother-in-law grew up in tiny Meridian, Texas, where paper ballots were counted outside the courthouse and tabulated on a blackboard while people stood around and watched. Not such a bad model, in retrospect.

  4. As of today, eight former and current prosecutors, as well as Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops, have all filed friend-of-the-court briefs with SCOTUS on behalf of Dailey.

  6. I love ⁦⁩’s political reporting because she highlights issues of urgent importance—especially to women—that no one else is writing about. A fascinating look at how a lack of childcare impacts the Iowa caucuses 👇🏼

  9. Mind-boggling: the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals found that “Dailey’s new evidence, at most, casts some degree of doubt on some of the testimony the State presented at trial”—yet the federal court rejected Dailey’s appeal. Important story by ⁩:

  10. Florida death row inmate James Dailey’s federal appeal was rejected yesterday. “A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals disputed Dailey’s contention that newly discovered evidence would clear him in the murder of Shelly Boggio.”

  13. When Amy Klobuchar was a top prosecutor, her office relied on jailhouse informants to send a teenager to prison for life. “Some have recanted, saying they were coached or coerced. Others were given reduced time, raising questions about their credibility.”

Authorities in Wisconsin did not want you to read this story. First a prosecutor sought a gag order after I reached out seeking comment. Then a state agency sent me a cease and desist order warning of potential criminal charges. Proud of for publishing it anyway.
