Well said. We do what we do to get where we need to go. I've delivered newspapers, telemarketed, worked in stores, and done a dozen other weird jobs. I want to be a screenwriter - right now I ghostwrite and I'm proud to be doing it. All work is good. Pride. Purpose. You nailed it

It makes me nuts that people think less of honest work. The man is working. Let him work in peace, for pete's sake. I hope this to-do leads to him getting some great part to make up for people being crappy.
-
Agreed. That's what drives me nuts here. What he's doing is right and honorable. I also hope that only good things come of this for him.

I think it's disgusting the way the media shames him and acts like "regular jobs" are such garbage and yet like 70% of the population have a regular job to make ends meet.
#Classwar is sadly alive and well. They showed their true colours. -
70% is kinda low more like 98% of us have regular jobs
-
Try 99.999% of us and that's probably low. There's probably 10000 jobs that bring a modicum of fame in this country. There are more than 300M people.

Let’s not forget that the illegal behavior of another person has probably curtailed, if not demolished a significant source of his income. But I’m a teacher, we all work extra jobs to make ends meet. It’s called, “being a responsible adult.” No shame in it.
-
Thank You. I said that same thing

I just had to give up my apartment. And working Production security. It’s hard even getting booked as an extra. People have no clue.
-
Sorry to hear about your apartment. Much respect for you taking a respectable job and doing what you need to do. I hope something good comes your way. Best of luck

No one should ever feel bad about doing an honest day’s work. It should always be a source of great pride.

Respect to you, Mr. Owens, and you owe an explanation to no one. Shame on

Thank you for that honest assessment of being an actor. People aske me why I stopped acting. I tell them it’s because people stopped hiring me.
-
Pretty much...I saw an interview with Ty Burrell once and he said he was just about to quit the acting profession because jobs were so scarce...then he got the part on Modern Family...it’s that uncertain or unpredictable

To try and shame anyone for having a work life...wtf. how many people in this world have ever been on tv? That isn't the measure of anything. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide have to work in order to live. This is just completely disgusting, imo.
-
The problem that some media have is to believe that actor work is better than all other jobs (and even if you can earn a lot of money) it does not stop being like another job (where you can also earn very little money or nothing)

I think people assume way too often that one gig means your set for life, it's misguided thinking and sad to see people in some cases piling on stories like this

Thanks for not only reminding not only fellow artists that the art struggle has always been real, but "outsiders" that being an artist never guarantees you anything. We just work & hope & live!
