Could he have filed more charges? The articles make it sound like it was a hot potato. Both entities seem like they had the power to prevent this, both chose not to.

The parole board has a lot more authority here to hold this man than Chesa, the burden of proof for a parole board is very low, it would have been easy to revoke parole and put this man back in prison. Chesa would have to prove this man guilty in front of a jury, 100% different.

Prove it if it goes to trial? Can he just file charges? But I see your point, CB’s hands are clean on this one? The parole board killed these two people :(

Although, why can’t they do both just to be sure no innocent women get killed? CB could have done his thing that he didn’t do, the parole board theirs, that they didn’t do? I still don’t understand why it had to be one or the other. I like redundancy on critical parts.

See my other response, like I said, Chesa is probably under pressure to lower the burden on the justice system with Covid going on, he probably assumed the parole officer could handle his parolee violating parole by doing non-violent crimes, it didn't look like a priority case.

Yeah, we need to stop pressuring him, but to be fair, he did reduce the head count in his office in his own accord. Wouldn’t there be less pressure if it were spread out over more prosecutors?
