This is a terrible tragedy and awful end to a brutal year. It is a system failure that resulted in irreversible harm to two families. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. We will hold the man who did this accountable. We will support the families of the victims

We will make changes to ensure that people on parole receive the supervision and structure needed from parole to prevent this kind of tragedy from recurring.https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Two-pedestrians-killed-in-hit-and-run-in-S-F-s-15839481.php …

Replying to @chesaboudin
I would advocate for infrastructure changes like bollards and concrete that protect pedestrians from drivers regardless of their parole status.

Lmao barricading every side walk isn’t a solution. In this specific incident it was a failure of govt to keep a criminal away from harming the public.

Is this the number across the US? Rural and urban? If so there’s your answer, roads can barely be maintained as is. Also we go to driving schools so we could avoid killing pedestrians. Works in a lot of places just not SF.
