Why not? He has top credentials, being a DA has poor job security, he could make a great deal in the private sector in a much less stressful job.
That very reason? You made it sound like this city would be an Utopia if only we chose to compensate the DA position less, so that he was forced to go into the private sector.

Honestly at this point anything is better. I don’t envy Chese though. Under normal circumstances SF could handle radical policies, but under these radical circumstances... no. He is going to end his term with 10 more crime 10 less convictions.
