SF does not have a system of mass incarceration. We have a revolving door where poliece do the work of arresting criminals then our progressive DA and judges undo to progress by releasing them back to the same neighborhoods they terrorize.

Then why does SF have a higher incarceration rate than any European country? Also higher than almost everywhere in Asian too! Thanks
@chesaboudin for your modern and enlightened modifications to our system of modern slavery.3 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
It is though 3 times lower than the national average? This is why I think Chesa is applied in the wrong place.

I’m still not sold on boudin. Maybe he makes sense with an abundance of resources, but that looks like it’s going to change.

I'm happy our scarce resources are headed towards medical care, and not towards mass incarceration. That is something

SF has not had a system focused on incarnation for over a decade. Boudin is not a pioneer here. He is slotting into the harm-reduction regime that precede him. Hard to call that system a success given the death and chaos that has become common place in our city.

Uh, just because were not incarcerating quite as many people as the rest of our incarceration happy nation, does not mean we do not have a mass incarceration problem. We still have more people incarcerated than any country in europe by capita.

Yeah, but Europe and US are a bit difficult to compare.

Why? Are the us people somehow inherently more criminal, or might the government here be more oppressive?

Oh I don’t think the government here is more oppressive. Quite the contrary, I think EU has way more regulations.
