I am watching what is happening in Texas with horror, like all humans with a heart right now. I have little to say about Mr. Cruz. It's all too disgusting. But I will say I love NYT shade thrown at him in their reporting when they note that he is wearing a polo shirt *tucked in".

If you are lacking for something to do today at 2 PM EST come talk with us about conservation, sovereignty and collaboration! I'll be talking about the work and I do in and asking myself (and others) some hard questions about the role of outsiders in local issues.

This is important. In part because of the effects that this all has on the circulation of news across Oceania.

Another excellent analysis of Mr. Gates' new book. This one ties his extreme wealth to fossil fuel investments as well as industrial farming. He owns 242,000 acres of farmland. Thanks to for sending it to me.

I saw this tweet day before yesterday and have been thinking on it ever since. As always, these women are making me think hard about what anthropology can be moving forward and what it has been looking backwards.

*REALLY* great piece about how extreme wealth translates into over-consumption and the resulting carbon footprint by Richard Wilk and Beatriz Barros.

Folks with elderly parents, friends, and community members: perhaps reach out and chat with them about the growing number of people who are using COVID19 vaccination appointments ("Oh, I can get you an appt. online just give me your SSN, DOB, Mothers maiden name...") as a scam.

Peace Be With You to everyone who is going to have to spend the next six months trying to patiently explain to their conservative family and friends why increased inclement winter weather is actually a sign of a changing climate and not proof that climate change is not real.

Teaching this tomorrow in the and CU Boulder multi-campus experimental Anthropology of Climate Change class and am reminded, while re-reading it, how great it is.
