I was a barista for 10 yrs, the only way this game is realistic is if the goal is to deflect the creep who thinks you have a relationship bc he sees you every day while simultaneously unclogging a toilet. Final boss: person on loud Skype call who wants you to turn the music down.

The Press Release announcing the new rules weakening the Migratory Bird Treaty Act includes a list of cherry-picked quotes from anti-environmentalists at the end. I've never seen anything like it.

NEW PAPER: Genetic tagging of basking indicates inter-annual site-fidelity following seasonal movements (i.e. "loved that front we went to last year") and relatedness within aggregations ("love trips with the family") - who knew?

The winner of the chunky contest, weighing in at a whopping 4.4g! Her large gills are an adaptation to her pond habitat. If this newt ever metamorphoses she will skip the eft (juvenile) stage completely!

The app is called “You’re Cancelled.” When you’ve made plans that you wish you could cancel, you go into the app and press a little button. If the other person presses theirs too, congratulations! Confetti exploded and your plans are cancelled.

Owl ears are asymmetrical and often at different levels on their heads. Due to the asymmetry, sound arrives at different times and allows for near pin-point location of the source.

The photo above is of a Eastern Screech-owl that hit a window on campus & had to chill in a bag for a few hours until he was well enough to fly away. Also just remembered it was Sunday: perfect timing!

Just heard an Eastern Screech-owl trilling! My neighborhood is near downtown & a major roadway but I’ve had Barred, Barn, Great-horned, & now Screech owls in my yard. Prob due to the vacant wooded lot across the street: amazing what 1 habitat oasis can do for an urban area

Who are you ROOTing for on ? With their dense underwater root systems, mangroves provide protection for lots of different species of juvenile fish including the schoolmaster snapper (Lutjanus apodus), a reef fish found in the Caribbean
