Don’t know Stallman well, have met him a few times and even put him up on my sofa for a night I think his social and emotional skills are so are awful he won’t understand why this behaviour is unacceptable. He exhibits many low EQ behaviours, IME. He needs help. Soon.https://twitter.com/sarahmei/status/1172283772428906496 …

I've tweeted for many years about how awful Richard "RMS" Stallman is - the pedophilia, the ableism, the misogyny. Inevitably, each time I do, dudes examine my receipts & then say "all those incidents are from years ago! he's changed now!" NOPE. https://medium.com/@selamie/remove-richard-stallman-fec6ec210794 …

And just to be clear, I’m not justifying his behaviour: far from it. I just genuinely think he hasn’t got a scooby why anybody would think his hot take on child rape being sometimes “consensual” would ever be a problem.

@sarahmei I am wondering: How should we deal with possible autistic spectrum stuff when it makes itself apparent like this? Removing him from @fsf has to happen, but I worry that makes him a martyr to many until he gets the help needed to realise and apologise.

I do worry if he’s just removed, that people who admire his work on free software who also have similar behaviour issues (there are many of them out there), will feel justified in feeling victimised. Removed AND getting help he’s needed for a long time: seems a better option.

I am also troubled by fact most people who are abusers or defenders of abusers were once abused. What if he was abused, but has justified it all his life as him not being a victim but that this was consensual, and this is now playing out in this way? Doesn’t excuse it, but...

He needs to go, people need to feel safe in their workplace and place of study, and the @fsf need to think about their role in this. But can somebody also get him some help? Counselling, therapy, whatever? And can we all call for more of that in similar situations in future?
