This NOT a true statement The truth, which is NOT new, is that folx from marginalized and vulnerable communities SAW and SCREAMED about the inevitable harm but they were ignored, at best, and actively targeted for harm, at worse JUST BECAUSE IT IS NEW TO YOU DOES MAKE IT A FACT

I have a 10 year old patient with long covid for 1 yr. He has brain fog so badly that he cannot finish his homework. He cannot go up a flight of stairs. He collapses into his bed when he gets home. He asked me when he will be healthy again & it broke my heart. Please mask 😷& 💉.

That's not how skeptics treated social media. There were many researchers, academics, activists, and a few journalists who warned of major negative externalities, esp with the surveillance capitalist biz model. No one in MSM wanted to listen until Cambridge Analytica and Trump.

No. The problem isn’t that there was no one presciently critiquing social media in the 2010s (and before), the problem is that those people were mocked as technophobic Luddites. Critics weren’t “assuming it wouldn’t work” they were warning about how it actually would work.

One of my biggest fears is that NYT journalists will willfully ignore the pleas, work & experience of marginalized communities ringing the bell about bad actors…only to years later proclaim no one was talking about this…

I really don’t get why people aren’t more scared of long covid. I’m telling you as a physician, YOU DO NOT WANT LONG COVID. There are no good treatments & life is unbearable for long haulers. Please just 😷& 💉. It kills me to see such sick patients—& it’s just going to worse 😢.

The Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team is on my flight home to Tucson. They won 5th place in their division, but this is their first year as an official collegiate team, rather than a club team. So cool! Congrats Cats!

Bannon is evil and looks deader than a Russian general, but pay attention because he’s telling you the plan for Jan. 2025: Congress will reject the election results and end almost 250 years of building toward democracy, possibly sparking violence like you’ve never seen here./1

An example of the, "Should this even exist?," questions that we need more tech-solutionists to be asking themselves, BEFORE unleashing their "solutions" into the world. 🧵

A must-read about so-called "Google magic", techno-solutionism, and deploying large language models in "auto-pedagogy". On top of all of the issues that identifies, let's also keep in mind that Google is a for-profit co. >>
