Basically, you open a newspaper in the science section, and you smile seeing how 'sensationalist and full of misleading information' the pieces are. Then you pass to any other section, and suddenly believe the pieces must be authoritative and take the information for granted!

This suggests some sort of "Zeno Paradox of Thought". If every topic could ostensibly be tought with precision only after intense expertise, then any opinion should wait a long time to be uttered!

The fact that we don't do this is because while expertise constructs nuance with concepts and nomenclature, our thought models build up intuition as a byproduct.

So indeed while the physicist (or anyone) may be quite wrong uttering opinions about philosophy, he is less likely to conceive nonsense the more conscious he is about his thought models.
