The most *entitled* & *malignant* strain of thought about ETH 1.x/ETH 2.0 developer compensation is "if they're underpaid, just leave". 👇👇 It must be eradicated if Ethereum's developer numbers (the most important leading indicator of all our success) are to continue to 📈.https://twitter.com/ShrimpFi/status/1115573266217705473 …

If they feel they are underpaid, they can leave. Freedom of choice. Or they can figure out ways to get paid better, instead of “socializing” their salaries.

Lol. I’m long ETH. Doesn’t mean I will not be critical of the project. Having a “founder reward” a.k.a “developer funding” is really a good way?

I rather you build a real business around the ecosystem and self-fund the development of the ecosystem than to have block rewards for developers. A “dev block reward” will create more governance problems around which developer to fund, who to decide etc.

If you walk back the “if devs feel they are underpaid, they should leave” point, which implies that devs working on Ethereum dont deserve market rate salaries, then I am happy to engage here on your (valid) criticisms of block reward funding @ShrimpFi

I wasn't implying that developers doesn't deserve market rate salary. I sincerely respect them for the work that they are doing and believe they should be WELL paid. You ignored the 2nd part which is "figure out ways to get paid better".

Is there nothing we can learn from how Linux funds its development? Events, training courses? Membership dues (tough now)?

Linux has a large centralized entity (linux foundation) that relies on corporates + has high administration costs
