    I’ve often seen/heard authors talk about a part of their stories that surprised them, that even they didn’t see coming. Did anything from the Hazel Wood surprise you as you were writing it?

    Try to shut out the noise and just focus on your excitement about the possibilities of the story. The internet and other people and your own insecurities can be loud, but if the desire to find out what happens next is a little louder, you'll make it through.

    For many people we want to write but often feel like we aren't good enough or that the story has been told. how were you able to fight that and continue to write what would eventually be a mystical journey in Hazel Wood?

    I love the idea in PETER PAN of everyone having their own personal Neverland. I'd want a door to whatever my Neverland might be! (Since I'm no longer 11 and can't say Hogwarts)

    I don't have any luck objects, but I do get pretty dorky about candles: I light a particular one for each project I'm working on, to try to trigger a scent memory to help me write. I think it works!
