Boehner said he's against all tax increases, then fought to raise the payroll tax. The only one the poor & middle class all pay. He wanted them to pay for lowering taxes on the wealthy. Boehner's a bad guy. AND, flushed face, watery eyes, often cried, yet media ignored it

Boehner is arguably mildly better by comparison than today's Republicans, but he was awful and is complicit in getting us to our current situation.

There's a very weird segment of Democrats who are still *deeply* embarrassed by the anti-war faction (even though we turned out to be right), and thus tends to be super jazzed about any opportunity to align themselves with that crowd instead.
