Awesome! So BFA seemed to be a real turning point in how blizzard wanted to convey narrative. I'm not sure of exact minutes but it seems like we got more high quality cinematics in the saurfang arc than the entire history of wow put together, which is amazing. (1)

Is this something that is likely to continue, considering how successful it seems to be at getting players hyped and also being able to really tell an important plotline, and convey so much character growth/emotion etc? (2)

Personally, I would love that and I know a lot of folks here would too. It's all up to the powers at be. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed then! There's just something. About blizz cinematics coupled with the music that get a really emotional rise out of me, I'm sure I'm not alone haha I have a technical question, but don't know what I'm talking about 😂 if for example, (1)

A model/asset (scourge) or an environment with materials, lighting, colour pallete etc (ICC environment/structures) is made, does it make it significantly easier to re-purpose them in future for another cinematic, making a series of cinematics more viable than random ones? (2)

Great question! The answer is yes, it does...mostly. It depends on what level fidelity the asset was first created. So if it was originally a background character, it will need some more love if it’s suddenly a “hero” character.

So the assumption is that the cinematics are massively expensive and time consuming, with an incredible amount of man hours sunk into them, but with very small to almost no monetary return, bar players resubscribing etc. I assume it is chalked up as marketing since (1)

It generates hype and all kinds of attention when they get released, so I just wanted to know- do you think blizz would consider making any of these cine standalon purely for fan/player love, satisfaction and enjoyment, as opposed to being linked to an overarching narrative? (2)

I knew you wouldn't be able to give a yes or no haha but I had to ask anyway :P Lastly-inoeraonally thinks he most famous and well loved cinematics to date are the wrath expansion cine, and the wrath-gate cutscene (different entirely I know). I'm not sure if (1)

You've seen it, bit a YouTuber remade the wrath-gate cutscene with modern models and effect in the last year, and it was super well received, and has about 1m views. It really does hold a special place in a lot of people's hearts, and actually seems more relevant than ever (2)
