Skating in Thirsty Suitors initially started out as quickly mocked up loading screen between sections in our early prototype. During playtests, folks respond positively to it so we decided to explore it as a feature. Took months to get it to a point we thought it could work.

Game dev is a series of decisions to make it look the best with limited resources. We only got there by doing it the time consuming way first. Tried modeling out the food in 3d but didn't look as good as a painted version by so 2d in a 3d scene with some effects was it.
