“The question no one is asking in the Democratic community is: Is private equity the best place for this data? Are they vulnerable to these types of cuts with no rhyme or reason? How does this affect the infrastructure?”

NEW: a PAC fighting progressive primary challengers is funded by one man who happens to be the richest person in Pennsylvania, a GOP mega donor who has avoided $1 billion in taxes: Jeff Yass. Biden’s former campaign manager is the PAC’s only consultant

BOTH parties joined President Biden Biden to BLOCK a rail strike and force the workers back to work with NO paid sick time. The whole time, Union Pacific was spending more on stock buybacks than workers. Is that "an economy that works for workers?"🤔

Good reminder here that Milwaukee would not be in the fiscal position it’s in if the state legislature gave the city or its residents a fair share of the revenue sources the state has preempted us from accessing and/or allowed us discretion to choose our own revenue structure.

The City of Milwaukee has cut 22.6% of its workforce since 2003 and the County has cut over 50% of its workforce in that time, reducing salaries by $116 million. Meanwhile, shared revenue has been flat, declining significantly when adjusted for inflation.

“Spending billions on a flat tax isn’t a workforce plan or an economic development plan." is right. A flat tax is an excuse to nickel-and-dime working people while giving millionaires and billionaires a tax cut.

There's nothing "America First" about slashing hard-earned benefits for seniors.

Medicare & Social Security are non-negotiable. Americans work hard & contribute to these programs with every paycheck. Republicans raised the debt ceiling 3x under Trump. Risking default or robbing seniors of hard earned benefits are not options. washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2023

A life-saving drug is not effective if a person who needs that drug cannot afford it. How many more Americans must die before Congress finally has the guts to stop the pharmaceutical industry from getting away with murder?

The last thing we need is another commission to propose cuts to Social Security & Medicare. The last time we had one, it proposed cutting Social Security benefits for middle class seniors by up to 35% & cutting tax rates for billionaires. We must instead expand Social Security.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. While I agree with Trump on virtually nothing, he is right to say: “Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security.” Let's raise taxes on billionaires, not cut retirement benefits.

The GOP war on workers continues just across the Mississippi River. The "PARTY OF FREEDOM🇺🇸🦅" is telling low-income families they can't have...*checks notes*...sliced cheese or fresh meat. What part of late stage capitalism is it when meat and American cheese is a luxury?

The GOP just proposed new restrictions on the types of food eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits, putting even more pressure on families with children. In addition, they would aim to keep families with more than one vehicle from receiving help. 👎

An airline CEO just said that companies are taking bookings for flights they know won't actually leave the ground. Consumer advocates with have been calling on Pete Buttigieg's DOT to investigate just that possibility.
Quote Tweet
In comments to company investors, United CEO Scott Kirby said ongoing flight cancellations are happening because the airlines are advertising schedules they can’t actually fly. Buttigieg has yet to crack down. @RebeccaJBurns_ & @andrewperezdc have more: levernews.com/airline-ceo-ad

Reality check - after Trump’s tax cut, the wealthiest Americans pay less in taxes than any other income group. Again this fight has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility and everything to do with the GOP's open hatred for the working class.

Republicans' resistance towards raising the debt ceiling has nothing to do with "fiscal responsibility". It's purely an excuse for them to take a hatchet to the social safety nets that working class relies on.

We just hit the federal debt limit. If we don't raise the debt ceiling, it could trigger a global financial crisis. But the House GOP refuses to raise it unless Biden agrees to Social Security and Medicare cuts. Let's be clear: There must be no negotiating on the debt ceiling.
