I teach from time to time at schools & can confirm. This "digital generation" is almost completely technologically illiterate - all their stuff worked out of the box & if not, got returned. IT books quality decreased significantly. Now there is garbage in IT sections with titles like "how to become hacker in 3 days", "DevOps/K8s/docker explained" etc.

And I can't say that it is a bad thing. Those people don't want to become computer experts, they want to find a job, well-paid one and live their lives. IT industry is getting bigger and bigger, it is impossible to maintain constant quality.
