I was once a narrative designer on a mobile hack 'n slash. I included my personal story of struggling with xenophobia. It was subtle, and cathartic.

The first game I made in school was "kind of" about my fear of death and hoping that if I ever fall into a coma I want to believe I'll be strong enough to come out of it for the people I love. Series of minigames while the MC is out due to an accident and fighting for his life.
-
That's a specific fear, do you know anyone personally who was in a coma?

What a beautiful gesture. I'm sure the game was much better for it. I'm sorry for your loss

The Integration Game is a twine game I made about integrating in Finland and dealing with the government services. It draws on my experience here and choosing to learn Swedish over Finnish for my wife.https://onegamedad.itch.io/the-integration-game …

I put my 5yr old son and my soul into a simple jam game that I hold dear to my heart, the sounds are him, as is the avatar, but the feel... the game feel is him as well, the pure joy http://mcfunkypants.com/bouncy

The memorial wall for lost loved ones at the end of The Walking Dead Season 3, has a picture of my best friend that passed away in 2009. Other devs also added people they lost to the memorial.
-
Omg, that's beautiful! I never knew this!
