Not surprised at India’s HIV+ve prevalence rate being lower than USA. The spectre of an AIDS epidemic in the 90s put the fear of God in all of us. Sexual hygiene in USA is so bad that they’re even seeing a resurgence of Siphyllis now.

Actually here I’ll even give credit to all Indian governments- the AIDS fear was so great that there were many awareness programs and promotion of condom use without judgement. Those ads ran on DD - how young men must get over embassment and buy condoms etc
