Minor irritation of the day:  seem to have made the ECS console a little less usable by removing relative dates. Rather than immediately seeing that something was deployed "2 minutes ago", I now have to check the current date, then expand the column to see the time…
Screenshot of the AWS ECS console which shows info on running tasks. There's a "Started at" column which shows absolute date-times, but truncated, e.g. "26/01/2023, 16:…".

"Adobe's creativity is spent on pricing, not on products" 👌
Quote Tweet
Adobe still seems operate in the “software in a box” world where they sell these app binaries for specific types of users for but there is no understand how teams operate today. They sell the tools, but not solutions. Their creativity is spent on pricing, not on products.

If so, that's up to them, but it's not really upholding good old Postel's Law. It'd also be a bit annoying, given they don't document the expected content-type for this JSON-formatted-but-not-called-`.json` file. However, they have done similar before:

🌈 The Apple sandbox API server has started adding a Content-Type header when validating iOS in-app purchases! 💩The Content-Type it's returning for its JSON responses is `text/html`…

Can it be that Apple's proxy for fetching `/.well-known/apple-app-site-association` on behalf of iOS devices became stricter today? 🤔 Accidentally, we were *not* serving this file as `application/json`, and seemed to start experiencing failures opening our URLs on iOS today…

Time to play "spot the usability issue"! Entering an email and clicking "Remove" on the "Remove from suppression list" UI didn't actually remove the email from the suppression list. Instead, the text field and button disappeared…

I love seeing major brands make NFT and web3 announcements these days. It’s a good indicator of how much of a disaster their product teams are. You missed the hype cycle to grift your customers, but still feel obligated to ship what you blew time on. Impressive stuff.

If you're still awake, and you enjoyed this, and you like low-fi ambient beats to relax/study to, and you like trains, and you like Scotland, then you might like matteason.co.uk/scotbeats/ Relax to Scottish train announcements over low-fi beats or whatever YouTube music you want

If anyone needs this split into 2,440 individual mp3s - because why wouldn't you - I've put them here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/ And if anyone wants to help transcribe all the files, here's a shared sheet, which has a good chance of descending into chaos: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

"You can't unsubscribe from important emails like this one" —, with a very questionable definition of the word "important". You'd expect a CRM company might to do a better job of managing the relationship with their customers. Also, I haven't even used this integration…

Guns are now the #1 cause of death of children and teens in the USA. Just unfathomable.

"Ministers […] could spend the [£1bn from the C4 sell-off] to boost creative training and independent production companies" Or they could have bought PPE in a competent & non-corrupt fashion, and there'd be £9bn to spare? Either way, this makes no sense. theguardian.com/politics/2022/

They asked for ‘a debate’; 90% of submissions in that debate said it was a bad idea. But still they go ahead. Why do they want to make the UK’s great TV industry worse? Why? It makes no business, economic or even patriotic sense. theguardian.com/media/2022/apr
Wow. I can't believe the EU is still being so malicious about Brexit. They're now sending us dangerous storms that only happen north of the English channel, and even stop right at the border with Ireland! 😡😡🇬🇧🇬🇧
