Do you want an agent or would you like the scientists that you want to speak to to have agents? I personally find scientists respond very rapidly to cold emails

Neither in my case; however, I wonder if there are significant funding gaps missed by traditional grant processes partially because scientists are busy doing their work instead of advocating to less expert audiences; and I wonder if they could delegate the advocacy

Inb4 that was briefly discussed two #SOPTP meetings ago in London. There was leaning towards skepticism because of the agent's need to be intimately acquainted with the work of the scientist.

when compared to the work of doing science; I wonder how long it would take to spin someone else up than it would do all the advocacy oneself?

As scientists are mostly government funded, this just sounds like a taxpayer subsidy for more middlemen.

not sure the agents should be gov funded; maybe private to provide more leverage for gov financing?https://twitter.com/orbuch/status/1222944920006062080?s=21 …

When I was a kid, they'd have these people come to our school and do science demonstrations. I thought to myself "I want that job". Not being a scientist, I wanted _that job_
