I was aware of it but it never drew me in, likewise with Taco Bell (ate there only twice in my life). That said, I love tots. In college I ate at Chipotle, Taco Del Mar, and Rancho Bravo Tacos. Then I moved to Southern California and found my local taqueria.

I don’t think I’ve ever had Taco Time. Maybe when I was super small when we lived in Wallingford. My immigrant parents had no awareness of Mexican food, Americanized or otherwise. We were more a teriyaki and Albertsons fried chicken household.
Seattle Met magazine full spread illustration for its “Taco Time Divide” story. “What really defines someone from Seattle? It might be their Strong Feelings—or lack thereof —about a certain local FAST-FOOD chain.”

Biked through Totem Lake, now swallowed by big mixed use apartments. The streets look more alive (with people walking and kids playing) than it’s ever been to me.

Totem Lake Connector trail bridge really close to completion. A strike delayed work apparently.

Begging “socialists” to understand that apartment bans are the worst for class and race segregation AND single family houses are so bad for city revenues that they need heavy subsidy. They will not ever fund social housing effectively. End the apartment ban.

A cautionary tale for Seattle. Some of these patterns are being repeated the further away from the core. Worse, it’s not even as fast as BART.
Quote Tweet
Had BART invested in more infill stations in the urban core, more urban lines instead of extending far out to the suburbs with one station per suburb and miles in-between it wouldve survived WFH. Part of the problem is how BART is structured as thisd dumb regional senate.

I see the weather here is still notoriously difficult to forecast. Glad it’s wrong in this case.

The has concurred to the Senate changes and PASSED #HB1293. Design Review (assuming signs the bill) is significantly changed for the better. Let's gooooooo!
Quote Tweet
Looks like #HB1293 just passed @WASenDemocrats "Streamlining development regulations"... which impacts #designreview!!!! Changes include: 1. Clear and Objective regulations must be applied. 2. No reduction in density, height, bulk, scale. 3. Only 1 Public Meeting 🚨🚨🚨!

Because I often hear “it will hurt my property value” as a reason some don’t want higher density/more development/etc. I thought: if I’m not selling anytime soon, shouldn’t a lower value be good actually because it makes my tax bill go down

Joni Earl made ST into one of the best agencies for delivering capital projects in the country. When she retired, the board hired a swamp creature from DC for his political connections. Now the agency can’t deliver projects. Leadership matters.

Was gonna join the Bothell middle housing walk but ended up walking around the neighborhood with mom and her friends because she spotted a cat and rabbit.

TIL the WA Constitution was amended twice to authorize combined city-county governments. 1st in 1948, 2nd in 1972. Jim Ellis, “father of Metro”, was on the committee writing the statement “for” in 1972.
Statement for

More Responsive and Efficient Local Government
By eliminating duplicate city and county administrations,
HJR 21 permits the cost saving advantages and efficiency of a
combined city-county (such as Denver). Moreover, HJR 21 also
permits the retention of smaller and more responsive units of
government such as certain cities or special districts within the
larger city-county unit if the electorate wishes to retain them.

HJR21 Is Enabling Only
To create a combined city-county there must be two elec-
tions: first, for freeholders to frame a charter and second, for
adoption of the charter.

Extend the 1948 Constitutional Provision

Limitation on Municipal Debts Payable From Property Taxes

More Effective Local Government

Retention of Existing Units of Government

No New Tax Source
HJR 21 does not authorize an income tax or any other new
tax source for a combined city-county

Love the idea. Just call our borough Northshore, please. There already are school, fire and utility districts using that name.

The best part is when folks howling "local control" make the absolute best case against it. Metro King County could be five boroughs, consolidating schools, zoning, public safety and services. The only things standing in the way are segregation and our f'd up property tax system. twitter.com/scottm00re/sta…
