I’m well. I just blocked Twitter completely for the whole month of June and am making changes. When in doubt check my personal website. https://sanjorn.com
I was aware of it but it never drew me in, likewise with Taco Bell (ate there only twice in my life). That said, I love tots.
In college I ate at Chipotle, Taco Del Mar, and Rancho Bravo Tacos. Then I moved to Southern California and found my local taqueria.
I don’t think I’ve ever had Taco Time. Maybe when I was super small when we lived in Wallingford.
My immigrant parents had no awareness of Mexican food, Americanized or otherwise. We were more a teriyaki and Albertsons fried chicken household.
Biked through Totem Lake, now swallowed by big mixed use apartments. The streets look more alive (with people walking and kids playing) than it’s ever been to me.
Begging “socialists” to understand that apartment bans are the worst for class and race segregation AND single family houses are so bad for city revenues that they need heavy subsidy. They will not ever fund social housing effectively.
End the apartment ban.
Had BART invested in more
infill stations in the urban core, more urban lines instead of extending far out to the suburbs with one station per suburb and miles in-between it wouldve survived WFH. Part of the problem is how BART is structured as thisd dumb regional senate.
Looks like #HB1293 just passed @WASenDemocrats "Streamlining development regulations"... which impacts #designreview!!!! Changes include:
1. Clear and Objective regulations must be applied.
2. No reduction in density, height, bulk, scale.
3. Only 1 Public Meeting !
Because I often hear “it will hurt my property value” as a reason some don’t want higher density/more development/etc.
I thought: if I’m not selling anytime soon, shouldn’t a lower value be good actually because it makes my tax bill go down
Spent a night trying to wrap my head around Washington’s property tax system. It is complicated.
All to answer whether increasing property values = pay higher taxes; tldr: yes but only relative to all other properties in that tax district https://mrsc.org/explore-topics/finance/revenues/property-tax…
Joni Earl made ST into one of the best agencies for delivering capital projects in the country.
When she retired, the board hired a swamp creature from DC for his political connections.
Now the agency can’t deliver projects.
Leadership matters.

Was gonna join the Bothell middle housing walk but ended up walking around the neighborhood with mom and her friends because she spotted a cat and rabbit.
TIL the WA Constitution was amended twice to authorize combined city-county governments. 1st in 1948, 2nd in 1972. Jim Ellis, “father of Metro”, was on the committee writing the statement “for” in 1972.
The best part is when folks howling "local control" make the absolute best case against it. Metro King County could be five boroughs, consolidating schools, zoning, public safety and services. The only things standing in the way are segregation and our f'd up property tax system. twitter.com/scottm00re/sta…
We’re feeling festive at Metro! Happy New Year to all our many friends currently celebrating—or who are about to celebrate!

New MIT study finds that:
- Closing nuclear power plants leads to thousands of deaths from air pollution
- Black people are disproportionately affected by the increased pollution
- More people die even when the power plants are replaced by ‘renewables’
Turtle transport in progress!🐢
86 red-eared sliders are being relocated from Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden to the Turtle and Tortoise Rescue in Arroyo Grande. These animals were first introduced by pet owners releasing unwanted animals in the park.💔http://SantaBarbaraCA.gov/Turtles
With the decline in local journalism, it's not surprising that electeds on small city councils aren't expecting a reporter to show up to cover their comp plan process. Which is exactly why I've started doing it.
has fought for years to bring housing abundance to Washington. Today, her bill #HB1110 passed the state Senate.
Congratulations on a well-fought victory. Now let’s keep this great progress going!
