Oh my god. Today I learned about Finder’s “Paste Item Exactly” menu item: Cmd-Option-Shift-V. Thanks respondent of rdar://problem/14826206 !

The difference is “Paste Item Exactly” preserves ownership and permissions, while “Paste” chowns them to the user copying. //
