This might be our future on Twitch and both as a streamer and CM I can't stress enough how painful this would be for everyone involved. Painting it as "supporting the streamer" when it does the opposite is a bad take.https://twitter.com/Dawnwhisper/status/1305829209919586306 …

I was thinking of the DnD campaigns and the ASMR streamers! Just WHY

-
Just why for everyone tbh, not only these categories. Yes, this might be good for top tier streamers but more than 90% of the Twitch ecosystem are streamers under 100 viewers struggling to get new viewers. This will stop new people from enjoying the content. It's a backstab.

Didnt some analytics show that pre-roll ads make 30% of the new people leave? Now imagine with this change when you get an ad ever 5-10 minutes. A friend did a test, and one of their viewers got 4 ads in 20 minutes, but once the streamer played an ad, no more ads for 20 minutes
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I was watching Dawn's BotW stream and she was doing a puzzle, and right as she was starting it I got 30 second ad. It was really annoying even though I could see the teeny tiny screen but no audio or anything. It's very annoying break from the content

Also made me think what would happen if the streamer was answering to something I'd say in chat and I'd have to be like "oh could you repeat that, I was watching ad for home insurance"

this really sucks hard... I think there should be a button or something for the streamer to shut this "feature" off

Probably will be one added that bills for $100 per ad free stream, they get to pay the advertisers off and pocket the change, or we get forced to endure that garbage, I could just about stand the ads with merged audio if the ad popped into a corner and swapped on mouseover/click.
