I love how both the book and the movie are it's own entities. I was upset at first it didn't follow the book's setting, but then absolutely fell in love with the movie.

Yeah, I actually ended up enjoying the departure, as literal book adaptations are (almost) always disappointing. Plus I still think some aspects of the book are too tricky to be shown in a movie (like the empathy boxes that Deckard uses).
