It is your child, communicate with them, find out about their hobbies and why they are so much into it.

With my family we'd all play a part in cooking dinner, setting the table, cleaning, drying, etc. Kinda seems like a result of lazy parenting to me

The best thing a parent could do is engage into their children's world's, understand it. Ergh. 'Stofanet' (Danish TV/www supplier) did a terrible www advert recently as well - including rage kids playing games. So useless.
