i think about streaming almost every damn day and every damn day for what has felt like a year (it has been a year) I talk myself out of it - now I look at twitch as an overwhelming mass which feels 10 times bigger than ever before - how could I ever step back into that?

This ^^ who gives a f about numbers. Yes Twitch is big, but the world is bigger. You don't have to be afraid of Twitch, you still have control of your channel (and it's chat) and yourself. You can allow what you want, and stream when you want. Do what you like!
