The shops are a different beast in that there is no natural way to revive them, as you cannot provide the original service.
You would have to partner with an existing repository or form your own for homebrew, and that's a whole new rabbit hole to take on.

The Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and the 3DS family of consoles officially shut down for new purchases and code redemptions 14 minutes ago.
It is not the first digital store we say goodbye to, it has only been 4 years since saying goodbye to the Wii Shop.
Yet it still sucks.

Absolutely not reviving the eShops, Wii Shop was enough of a mistake to take on already.
And other projects that are potentially looking into it, beware, the shops are a whole different beast regardless of what you have been reverse engineering over the years.

It's sad to say goodbye, and with as much fond memories as I have with the 3DS & Wii U's eShops, it makes it even harder. But at least they get to join the other Nintendo shops that came before in retirement!

It's always unfortunate when digital storefronts close.
I've always had the opinion that companies should at the very least make the entire, or the vast majority of a library about to be lost available through other official means, even if costly for customers.

Do any of you know Discord servers that are subscribed to OSC's update feed?
I've been wondering because Discord's analytics tell me there are quite a few very big servers subscribed to the feed's channel and yet I've never seen one myself.

How do other fellow open source non-profit projects expand their trusted primary maintainers team? Do they just recruit active contributors?
I've been thinking of expanding the core team because I'm just too busy a lot of the time, but "hiring" is just not an option here.

I seriously have no idea what happened but it seems the Open Shop Channel website is seeing insane growth from Google search results all of a sudden.
Getting from 6K monthly clicks to 7K monthly clicks took 6 months - it is now about to reach 4 milestones in the span of 30 days.

I was always concerned that changes I make to the website will impact search engines' ability to crawl it.
Also, for some reason google doesn't bother with many of the help pages.
Today I remembered sitemaps exist, hopefully that does it. oscwii.org/sitemap.xml 😎
