SourceMD V2 can now also create @wikidata book items from ISBNs for you.
You can provide the title if known, otherwise it will try to look it up automatically.

I use http://openlibrary.org , as it was by far the most easy to access. Google is probably better in many ways, but also more work to set up...

Their API doesn’t do author lookup, but I could scrape that from the author pages, or use the bulk download. Bit of work though. Question is, do we want all of that, and is OL reliable enough?
