daytrip to #battleofideas - stunned by intellects like @juliahobsbawm - surprised to hear @Ed_Husain explain differences between male & female circumcision, enjoyed @GSpellchecker forgetting about surgery & was heartened to hear people passionate about prison @NPorter83
I recall you conflating circumcision with cannabalism, to compare surgical and religious circumcision seems less terrible to me, a rationalist would weigh up the harms & benefits of the outcome whatever the intent.

No, I didn't conflate it. I brought it up to highlight how silly the argument from tradition is
-
It certainly appeared silly to talk about cannibalism, whilst admonishing talk of the similarity of the balanced weighing up of best interests, parental consent & technical procedure that a surgeon would go through whether providing a circumcision for surgical or religious intent
-
A surgeon would never in a million years consider mutilating the genitals of a child for ritual reasons were it not for the underserved privileges afforded to religion. You seem stuck in the one cannibalism point. It was used solely to point out bad argument from tradition...
-
I agree that it only occurs due to religious history & do not get me wrong I am not a proponent of the act, for me there are infinite acts people do which I do not like, but I would not ban, eg; low THC high CBD cannabis consumption
