    The conflict is over the requirements for public employees to be vaccinated, and what repercussions fall onto employees who don't get the shot. Labor feels left out of the process, and is actively bargaining with management.

    Nobody can say exactly how many government workers in LA are vaxxed. I set out to report a story on how more than 1/3 of LA City's emergency responders are unvaccinated. I stumbled because of a huge out-of-view conflict between public unions, their managers, and politicals.

  10. I’m going to keep saying this forever. If this is happening to journalists, it’s happening to other people, too. Journalists don’t matter more than others, they’re just given a platform to talk about it. That’s why any account of violence should be heard and taken seriously.

    thinking about that day in early pandemic 2020 when the ceo of a local public media company suggested to staff in his daily evening email that they should go get Vespertine for delivery, bc Vespertine was doing delivery now there was a pandemic happening.
