I am so excited that is winning the Erdős–Rényi prize. I like his work a lot. His papers are always fun to read and pedagogical. His software project, graph-tool, is crisp and well-documented, geared with auxiliary functions that enable reproducible research. 1/6

Does community detection with Stochastic Block Models change if we know a network is bipartite? and I have done a deep dive, and we think the answer is yes! Here's a preprint, which we'd love thoughts on, but also a threadsplanation... 1/8

This seems like a reasonably well balanced discussion of whether can be contained, how severe it will be if not, and what happens next. The key is that there is a lot of uncertainty.

1/ So. About this blocking Taiwan issue. I’ve been following it with an open mind, hearing from both sides. After going through it all, I have come to *my* conclusion. This is my *opinion*. Some won’t agree or like it. But so be it. Please be patient ..

This is the result of >6 years of work with a fantastic team including and others without (known) Twitter accounts. Fair to point out that funding for this work has repeatedly been turned down for reasons going from "this is impossible" to "this is old news"

Interested in learning about both Stochastic Block Models in and how merging the 📦writing process and research enhances both? My presentation is today in the Modeling track. Don't worry, I have gratuitous network animations.

Best piece of advice for talks I've ever read is that people are better at generalizing from a good example than imagining helpful examples of an abstract notion. Can't find where I saw it. did you write this, or do you recognize it?
